Warranty Coverage
This limited warranty is available only to the original purchaser of a new replacement Sailun tire(s) used on the exact vehicle on which they were initially installed. The warranty applies to tires purchased after January 1, 2017. Tires purchased before this date are covered by the previously published Sailun Warranty.
The Sailun Total Coverage Warranty offers consumers the following benefits:
- Coverage for Defects in Workmanship and Materials
- Road Hazard Replacement Program
- Limited Kilometer Tread Wear Protection Policy (select Sailun patterns only)
- 30 Day Trial (select Sailun patterns only)
To determine which Sailun patterns are covered, please consult the Sailun Warranty Table. For this warranty, when a tire is worn down to 2/32″ (measured at any point in the face of the tire), it is considered to have rendered full service and is no longer legal for further use.
Artistry and Materials
Sailun warrants all tires against defects in artistry and material for 60 months from the date of purchase. Any qualifying Sailun passenger or light truck tire deemed to have a defect will be replaced free of charge within the first 25% of the original usable tread life or 12 months from the date of purchase, whichever comes first.
When a warrantable condition is found on a tire worn past 25%, the customer will be charged a proratedprorated amount for a comparable new Sailun tire based on the remaining usable tread left on the tire. The cost of mounting, balancing, service charges and/or disposal fees including applicable taxes are required to be paid by the consumer.
Exclusions
This limited warranty does not cover the following:
- Ride complaints after the first 2/32″ of tread wear or replacement of 3 or more tires from the exact vehicle
- Premature or irregular wear due to vehicle mechanical deficiencies or failure to rotate the tires at recommended intervals
- Tires on any vehicle registered and normally operated outside of Canada
- Damage from incorrect mounting/dismounting, incorrect tire application, water/material trapped inside during mounting, or failure to balance
- Damage from over/under inflation, overloading, fire, theft, defective vehicle conditions
- Damage from racing, off-road use, misapplication, abuse, alteration, use when flat, etc.
- Tires are worn beyond the wear indicators (less than 2/32″ remaining tread)
- Ozone or weather cracking, flat spotting, damage from accident, chemical corrosion, tire alteration, vandalism
- Tires with the D.O.T. identification number and brand name removed
- Loss of time/use, inconvenience or any incidental or consequential damage
- Tires used on Recreational Vehicles (for camping & motor homes, etc.) or in commercial service
Other Limitations
Failure to rotate tires as recommended voids the tread wear protection policy. The limited warranty excludes tires that are a different size than recommended. Winter tires must be used only in winter months, defined as September 1 through April 30 of the following year.
Road Hazard Replacement Program
Sailun Tire offers a “limited, free replacement” road hazard program, which applies to all Sailun passenger and light truck patterns. This free replacement is only applicable during the first 3/32 of the original usable tread or two years from the date of purchase, whichever comes first. An unrepairable tire will be replaced with a similar new Sailun tire. Once a tire is worn beyond 3/32″ or more than two years from the date of purchase, this road hazard warranty is null and void. Repairable tires must always be repaired at the vehicle owner’s expense.
The Road Hazard Replacement Program excludes tires damaged due to vandalism, accident, improper repair, commercial use, racing, off-road use, snow chains, studs, irregular wear from mechanical issues, or tires that have been transferred from their original vehicle.
Limited Tread Life Protection
Select Sailun patterns are assigned Limited Tread Life Protection, which protects against premature tread wear. If a tire reaches the end of its “usable tread life” before the stated kilometre protection, the consumer will be issued a replacement Sailun tire on a prorated basis, meaning the consumer will be responsible for a percentage of the replacement cost. Tires must be rotated at least every 10,000 km to protect tread wear. The cost of mounting, balancing and any other service charges, including applicable taxes and disposal fees, are always required to be paid by the consumer.
30 Day Trial
Select Sailun patterns are eligible for a 30 30-day trial. If you are not satisfied with your new set of tires at any time within 30 days of purchase, please return to the original place of purchase, where you will be entitled to full credit for a different set of tires. The original sales invoice and the completed 30 30-day trial registration card are mandatory for refund. The SAILUN 30-Day Trial supplements the SAILUN Limited Warranty with the warranty limitations and exclusions still applicable. You will not be entitled to a 30 Day Trial refund if the tires:
- Are not still installed on the original installation vehicle
- Were regularly operated outside of Canada
- Are damaged by road hazards, negligence, abuse, improper inflation or vehicle conditions
- Were installed on a commercial vehicle or a vehicle used for commercial purposes
Owner’s Obligations
To maintain the Kilometer Tread Wear Protection and Road Hazard Replacement Program, the consumer must:
- Present claims to an authorized Sailun Tire Dealer
- Submit or present the original receipt showing automobile kilometres at the time of tire purchase and installation.
- Submit a tire rotation record showing that all tires have been rotated at least every 10,000 km.
Tire Care and Maintenance Guide
To reduce the risk of tire failure that can result in severe damage and personal injury:
- Maintain proper inflation pressure, not underinflated or overinflated, as the vehicle manufacturer specifies.
- Check alignment and balancing at regular intervals.
- Do not overload beyond the maximum moulded on the tire sidewall.
- Avoid excessive tire spinning and driving over curbs, potholes, obstacles and pavement edges.
- Never drive on bald tires – replace when 2/32″ of tread depth remains as indicated by wear bars.
- Regularly inspect tires for damage. If found, have the tire inspected by a Sailun dealer. Do not attempt to repair yourself.
- Do not exceed speed limits or maximum speed based on driving conditions.
Approved Tire Rotation
Regular tire rotation promotes more uniform wear. Tires should be rotated at least every 10,000 km or at any sign of irregular wear. The first rotation is the most important. Rotating the tires as recommended by the vehicle or tire manufacturer will help even out the amount of wear on each tire and extend the life of the entire set. Some tires cannot be rotated as usual, such as temporary spares, unidirectional, asymmetric tread designs or different-sized front vs. rear tires. Always check the owner’s manual for the proper rotation recommendations for these cases. After rotation, inflation pressures must be adjusted for the tires’ new positions based on the actual loads on that wheel position and the vehicle manufacturer’s recommendations. Underinflated or overinflated tires may result in poor handling, uneven tread wear, and increased fuel consumption.
If uneven wear is found, ask the service person to check for and correct any mechanical problems before rotation.
